Can having Diabetes and MRSA kill me?
I have Type 1 Diabetes and it is pretty poorly controlled. I just got out of DKA. I also have MRSA, and it seems to never go away for very long. I'm allergic to what the doctors say is the best way to treat it (Vancomycin), and practically immune to most other antibiotics they've prescribed to treat it (Bactrim, etc.). I want to know what the chances of me dying from this really are. I'm 18, I have a pretty nonexistent immune system, and I have two abscesses from the infection right now. The doctors tell me how it can "be harmful" and everything, but since I'm so young, they always beat around the bush. I've been fighting health issues my whole life so I know I'm strong enough to handle the truth, and I think that if someone could honestly tell me about all of this, it'll force me to take better care of this. Thanks for your help. =]
