Volcano Question (Please I need an answer!)?

In the initial blast from a large explosive volcanic eruption (such as Krakatoa or Pinatubo) how much energy is released? Again just the initial blast, not heat being released after wards. Are any eruptions really as powerful as nuclear detonations?
